Midsomer Cottage

This beautiful Victorian cottage in Iffley village, Oxford, has three double bedrooms and offers superb accommodation for up to six people. Recently renovated, it combines traditional Victorian architectural features with all modern comforts. The house is on three floors. On the ground floor are the light and sunny living-room and kitchen/diner opening onto a delightful garden. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom, plus a separate bathroom. On the third floor, accessed by a steep staircase, is the third twin bedroom. The house is in the picturesque village of Iffley, on the River Thames, only 3kms from Oxford city centre and with easy access to the Oxford ring road.

  • Midsomer Cottage is a traditional Victorian cottage, built of red brick with white sash windows, set in the delightful Iffley village.
  • The living room is comfortable and elegant, with windows to the front, the side and the back making it very light and sunny. It has wooden floors with rugs, and is furnished with two comfortable sofas, easy chairs, a desk, coffee table and flat-screen TV with Sky.
  • The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed for a self-catering stay and has an attractive dining area with pine dining table and chairs. This is also a lovely light and airy room with windows on three sides and views of the garden.
  • The kitchen diner opens onto a terrace with garden furniture where guests can enjoy al fresco meals, surrounded by a mature, well-kept garden.
  • The two double bedrooms on the first floor both have double beds and plenty of storage. One has its own ensuite bathroom with shower. There is also a separate bathroom on this floor, with bath and overhead shower.
  • The third bedroom is on the second floor and has twin beds and lovely views over the garden and Iffley. Please note that this room is accessed by a steep paddle staircase.
  • Free broadband internet connection.
  • No allocated parking space, but it is always possible to park nearby.

Local area and amenities

Iffley village is a delightful village on the River Thames, so close to Oxford city centre that it is considered part of Oxford. It is well-known for its Norman church, attractive architecture, and for pretty Iffley Lock which makes it a favourite choice for a Sunday walk. Iffley has several excellent pubs and restaurants and a small village shop selling basic essentials. A supermarket, chemist and many more shops are available on the nearby Iffley Road and all the amenities of the city centre are only 3kms away. 

Location and access

Iffley village is located to the south-east of the city centre, just off the main Iffley Road out of the city. Lying halfway between the city centre and the ring road, it has excellent access to all areas of Oxford and Oxfordshire. The walk from Iffley to Oxford centre along the towpath next to the river is a beautiful one, and takes about 40 minutes. There are very frequent buses to the city along the Iffley Road, a few minutes' walk from the property. Because of its proximity to the Oxford ring road, this property offers excellent access to all areas including the business and science parks of Oxford, Abingdon and Culham.
