This superb two-bedroom apartment is the coach house of the Old Post Office in Deddington, and dates back to the 18th century. Spacious and elegant but also warm and welcoming, it offers an exceptional level of charm, elegance and comfort for up to four visitors. The apartment is on two floors: on the ground floor is a large traditional-style kitchen with dining area, opening onto the patio, and a separate utility room. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there is a spacious sitting room, extremely large main double bedroom, second smaller double bedroom, and bathroom. The apartment is in the picturesque Cotswold village of Deddington which lies between Oxford and Banbury and has excellent transport links.

  • The downstairs kitchen and dining area is spacious, warm and welcoming, with original brick tiles, high ceiling with beams, and larder. It is fully equipped for visitors and furnished with a pine table and chairs and large pine dresser. It opens onto the apartment's private stone patio area with table and chairs, adjacent to beautiful walled gardens.
  • Separate utility room with washing machine and overhead drying rack.
  • The upstairs sitting room is beautiful, spacious and elegant, with an open fireplace and window seat over the walled gardens. It has a comfortable sofa and 3 armchairs, with TV/DVD concealed in a period cabinet.
  • The main bedroom is a very large room with windows over the garden and to the side. It has a double bed, large wardrobe and chest of drawers, dressing table, bedside table, window seat and armchair.
  • The second bedroom is a smaller double room, also overlooking the gardens, with wardrobe and bedside table. The wardrobe contains a fold-out desk attachment which provides a useful work station.
  •  The spacious bathroom is elegantly tiled in neutral shades and combines bath and overhead shower.
  • The apartment is very quiet; part of the Old Post House building, it is reached through an imposing arched and gated entrance, and across a beautiful stone courtyard planted with roses and box hedging.
  • The apartment features beams in every room, natural coir flooring upstairs, period furniture and beautiful side and spot lighting throughout.
  • Broadband Wifi connection downstairs.

  • Children over ten or infants are welcome; the property isn't suitable for children of other ages. 

NOTE The owners use part of the main building as an exclusive B&B and are happy to provide a range of extra facilities for guests including cooking meals, shopping, laundry and ironing, use of conference room and office services, by arrangement. Occasional use of outdoor swimming pool also available by arrangement in summer months.

Local area and amenities

Deddington is one of the most beautiful Cotswold villages and has excellent amenities including good pubs and restaurants, a supermarket, delicatessen and post office, clothes and antique shops, and tennis courts. There are regular concerts and other events, a Farmers' Market, and a two-week summer festival.

Location and access

Deddington has excellent transport links, on the A4620 between Oxford and Banbury and ten minutes from Junction 10 of the M40. It is 15 miles from Oxford, 6 miles from Banbury, 10 miles from Bicester and Brackley, and 17 miles from Silverstone race circuit. It offers an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds; Woodstock and Blenheim Palace are 10 minutes away. There is also an excellent fast train service to London from nearby Bicester.
