Jericho is a residential area of great historical interest and with its own unique atmosphere and identity very close to Oxford city centre. It features in many works of literature from Thomas Hardy's 'Jude the Obscure' to Philip Pulman's 'Northern Lights'.

Originally an industrial area, Jericho consists of criss-crossing backstreets of Victorian terrace houses running from St Giles and Woodstock Road, just north of the city centre, west to the Oxford Canal. Its nineteenth-century houses, although originally built for workers, are now highly appreciated for their architectural features and are very fashionable; the area is hugely popular with students and professionals alike. It has a superb selection of restaurants and pubs, a good choice of food shops for the self-catering visitor, and its own small cinema. The area offers interesting walks along the Oxford Canal, home to many picturesque narrow boats, and is adjacent to the lovely green area of Port Meadow with walks through to the river Thames.

Our serviced self-catering accommodation in Jericho is extremely popular and visitors are advised to book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
