
Old Marston is a village on the outskirts of Oxford. It is unique oasis of tranquility just 3 km outside of the city centre. Our Oxford short let Cedar Cottage in located in the heart of the village. A guest described the cottage and Old Marston: “Oxford is full of treasures and this is one of them.”
Old Marston is a beautiful English setting. If you like history it is worth a visit. The village played an important part in the English Civil War. Oliver Cromwell is likely to have visited the village around 1646.
In the centre of the village there is the very pretty church of St Nicholas. It has been there for nearly 900 years. The first reference to the to the church was in 1122. The beautiful sound of the church bells can be heard throughout the village.
Just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Old Marston you will find the famous Victoria Arms pub. The pub is a in a perfect spot of the banks of the River Cherwell. The pub has been used many times in the filming of Inspector Morse and Lewis, the perfect place for Morse fans to visit.
