Oxford's Old Fire Station

If you are new in Oxford and want to find a hub of activity then you need to head to The Old Fire Station on George Street. Just a short walk from many of our properties, the Old Fire Station offers two great things in once space:

Crisis Skylight Café

The café at the Old Fire Station is run by charity Crisis. Crisis is the national charity for single homeless people, their mission is to end homelessness. The café offers on the job training and routes to employment for those using the Crisis services, so by eating in the café you are helping people off the streets. The Skylight Café offers really good food at affordable prices. You can get a delicious hot meal with fresh crisp salad for around £5.00. This has obviously struck a chord with the people of Oxford as the place is buzzing!

Arts at the Old Fire Station

The other part of the Old Fire Station is an art centre offering a gallery, shop, theatre and a variety of dance classes. You can take part in weekly flamenco or watch one of the plays put on by a local theatre company. The gallery showcases contemporary art from across the UK with a sway towards art from the local area. And our personal favourite, the shop, if you are looking for something different as a gift for a loved one head here. The shop is full of quirky and unique gifts made by local Oxfordshire designers, the perfect place to visit and pick up a souvenir of your time in Oxford. Find out what's on.
