Best Café in Headington: Jacobs and Field

At Weekly Home we are always on the lookout for great places in Oxford to recommend to our short let and holiday rental customers.

This week we headed over to the Headington area of Oxford. Headington is a lovely part of the city, where you will find the popular Bury Knowle park, a good range of shops and independent cafés. One of our favourite cafés is Jacobs and Field, so we have made it our new Weekly Home favourite.

Why do we love Jacobs and Field? Well Jacobs and Field is not just a café, it is a delicatessen, grocers and café all rolled into one. All the produce that they sell is locally sourced and has obviously been chosen with great care and attention and displayed beautifully in the shop. They also make all of their own jams and their own pies.

If you have more time, take a seat and enjoy one of Jacobs and Field’s breakfasts. You will have to get up early to beat the crowd, but it is well worth it for their famous Eggs Benedict and their divine coffee (locally roasted in Witney).

In the Summer the Jacobs and Field’s terrace at the front of the shop is packed with people. It is the only place in Headington that gets the sun all day and makes the perfect spot to watch the world go by.

The whole shop has been lovingly created by owners Johnny and Damion, it is something between a British farm shop and a French Bistro. The success of their creation is more than just the fantastic food and drink they sell; it is pleasant nature of the staff, the attention to detail of the decor and the owners obvious love for the business. At Weekly Home we are a big fans of the distressed wood tables and crates.

If you like the sound of Jacobs and Field, then why not come and stay in one of our short let or holiday rental properties in Headington, our friendly staff are ready and waiting to take your booking.
